15. EQUIPMENT
A. 5 grains per pound or 280 FPS (shooters choice)
Shooter's arrows must weigh at least five grains per pound of shooting weight. Shooting weight is defined as the peak draw weight (maximum draw weight or thrust weight, which ever is greater) that is obtained within the maximum draw cycle. Shooters will be allowed 5 grains for scale differences. Shooters at the maximum end of a weight allowed for a class will be allowed two pounds for scale variation, but arrow weight must follow bow weight. Equipment will be checked at random.
The five grains per pound limit will not apply if the shooters bow and arrow combination generates less than 280 FPS of arrow speed. If the arrow speed is higher than 280 FPS the shooters equipment will be subject to the 5 grains per pound limitation. Shooters will be allowed a 3% grace for chronograph differential. When a shooter is asked to have his or her equipment checked they will be required to choose which way they would like it checked. One way or the other, not both.
Please note: It is the shooter's responsibility to maintain their equipment within this rule.
Further note: Check manufacturer's recommendation concerning arrow weight per pound of bow weight. It is recommended, that you do not shoot an arrow weighing less than the minimum recommendation for your bow.
B. Limb bolts. Once a shooter begins a course, their limb bolts may not be adjusted until after the equipment can be checked by range officials at the completion of that course.
C. Sights, and v-bars must not extend more than 12" from the bow nearest the point of attachment.
STABILIZER - Any device used for stabilization of the bow.
NOTE-This rule has been amended to allow stabilizers longer than 12 inches in all classes except traditional and hunter classes
D. Overdraws are legal in all classes except traditional long bow.
E. There is no limit to the number of pins on a sight, except in the Hunters classes (HC, FHC, HF, MHC).
F. MAXIMUM PEAK BOW WEIGHT
A maximum of 80 pound peak bow weight in all male classes except traditional which is 90 pounds.
A maximum of 60 pound peak bow weight in all female and youth classes.
A maximum of 40 pound peak bow weight in all cub classes.
G. Any equipment that falls outside our existing guidelines will be put in the open class until such time that the I.B.O. board of directors can make a ruling to decide which class equipment in question should be placed in.
H. Equipment failures must be visible and agreed upon by the majority of the group Upon agreement, the shooter must have his/her score cards initialed by the entire group as an equipment failure. The score cards of the shooter with the equipment failure will be totaled and initialed by the score keepers before leaving the range. At that time, the shooter (with the failure) only must proceed forward through the course to the range tent, and notify a range official.
If there are three or more shooters remaining in the group, they may continue shooting. If two or less shooters remain, they must join the following group, (unless, by joining the following group it will make a group of 6 or more) or step aside and await a range official before continuing. The range official will hold the individual's score cards until the repair is completed and he/she is escorted back onto the range. The range official will determine the amount of time necessary to make the needed repair. The time element will not be abused. A range official must escort all persons re-entering the range to the designated target.
Equipment may not be exchanged during a course except as pertaining to rule #15- H.
Equipment may be re-checked as the individual returns to the range. Any shooter leaving the range without following the guidelines of rule #15-H will be disqualified.
16. Class advancement by age - If a youth shooter's birthday falls after the conclusion date of an IBO World Championship, he/she will maintain class standing (future bowhunters, cub, youth) for the full year, until the completion of a subsequent IBO World Championship.
All adult shooters may register at any event, at their age on the day of registration. (present age at the event in question).
An adult shooter can only qualify at his/her present age at a qualifying event. If you qualify in one class and want to shoot in another, you must re-qualify in that class.
17. The I.B.O. shoot calendar is defined from World Championship to World Championship.
18. No alcoholic beverages may be carried or consumed on any range or practice area by anyone during shooting hours. (Note, if in the opinion of a range official it is decided a shooter is under the influence of alcohol, that range official can deny your participation in any I.B.O. competition).
19. Counting the total number of 11's will break ties. After that total is compared and the tie still exists, a shoot off will decide placement. A shoot-off using a 3-D animal target set at an unknown yardage with an X placed in the center of the highest scoring area. The arrow closest to the center of the X will determine the winner. If there are more than two shooters in the shoot off it will be scored closest to the center of the x, second closest, etc. If only one shooter is present at the shoot-off, he/she is the winner.
20. Any shooter participating in a state championship, I.B.O. Indoor World, Winternationals, Southern Triple Crown, National Triple Crown and World Championship must be an I.B.O. member. A shooter must qualify at any one of the sanctioned IBO World Qualifiers to participate at the World Championship. This includes all classes with the exception of FBH (Future Bowhunters).
21. Participants in the pro and semi-pro classes must be I.B.O. members to shoot at any I.B.O. sanctioned event. Pro and semi-pro classes must qualify at a sanctioned event in order to participate at the I.B.O. World Championship.
22. If a fixed pin/cross hair sight is used, (in classes that require fixed pins), it may not be adjusted while on the range during a tournament.
23. Spectators will not distract, interfere, coach or assist shooters while on the range. 24. One golf size umbrella only, may be used at the shooting stake.
25. Shooters will be allowed to compete in one class (only) at any sanctioned I.B.O. event.
26. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Any action considered unsportsmanlike will result in disqualification.
It will be considered unsportsmanlike conduct to assist a shooter by projecting any illuminated aiming point onto any target.
I.B.O. CLASSES DEFINED
Hunter Class (HC)
We have received questions about sights with a rear aperture (i.e.: rifle style). These are allowed in the HC's that allow sights.
This would be, if the sights (both aiming sections) are fixed, and not adjusted while on the range.
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without sights, may be shot with release aid, finger tab, glove or bare fingers. If a sight is used it will have no more than four (4) fixed or crosshair style pins. Circle pins allowed if all circles are the same size. Arrows must have screw in style points and a minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Only one (1) single stabilizer being less than twelve (12) inches in length from the nearest point of attachment is allowed. A maximum of eighty (80) pounds of peak weight is allowed and will be shot from the yellow stake with a maximum of approximately 35 yards. * - **.
If a shooter wins while competing in the Hunter Class any two (2) events in the Shooter of the Year Program or wins a National Championship or World Championship title that shooter must advance to a more competitive level the following IBO shoot calendar year. Once this shooter advances to the higher competitive level, he/she must remain at that level for an entire IBO shoot calendar year.
Money Hunter Class (MHC)
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without sights, may be shot with release aid, finger tab, glove or bare fingers. If a sight is used it will have no more than four (4) fixed or crosshair style pins. Circle pins allowed if all circles are the same size. Arrows must have screw in style points and a minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Only one (1) single stabilizer being less than twelve (12) inches in length from the nearest point of attachment is allowed. A maximum of eighty (80) pounds of peak weight is allowed and will be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
Female Hunter Class (FHC)
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without sights, may be shot with release, finger tab glove, or bare fingers. If a sight is used it will have no more than four (4) fixed or crosshair style pins. Circle pins allowed if all circles are the same size. Arrows must have screw in style points and a minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Only one (1) single stabilizer being less than twelve (12) inches in length from the nearest point of attachment is allowed. A maximum of sixty (60) pounds of peak weight is allowed and will be shot from the yellow stake with a maximum of approximately 35 yards. * - **
If a shooter wins while competing in the Female Hunter Class any two (2) events in the Shooter of the Year Program or wins a National Championship or World Championship title that shooter must advance to a more competitive level the following IBO shoot calendar year. Once this shooter advances to the higher competitive level, he/she must remain at that level for an entire IBO shoot calendar year.
Hunter Fingers (HF)
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without sights, may be shot with finger tab, glove or bare fingers. If a sight is used it will have no more than four (4) fixed or crosshair style pins. Circle pins allowed if all circles are the same size. Arrows must have screw in style points and a minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Only one (1) single stabilizer being less than twelve (12) inches in length from the nearest point of attachment is allowed. A maximum of eighty (80) pounds of peak weight is allowed and will be shot from the yellow stake with a maximum of approximately 35 yards. * - **
If a shooter wins while competing in the Hunter Fingers Class any two (2) events in the Shooter of the Year Program or wins a National Championship or World Championship title, that shooter must advance to a more competitive level the following IBO shoot calendar year. Once this shooter advances to the higher competitive level, he/she must remain at that level for an entire IBO shoot calendar year.
*No lens with or without magnification may be shot in the hunter classes.
**Secondary vibration dampeners may be used in the hunter classes that extend less than two (2) inches, from point of attachment. These vibration dampeners are not counter weights, and weight may not be added to one.
MALE BOWHUNTER FINGERS (MBF)
A compound, recurve or longbow, must be shot with a glove, finger tab or bare fingers. A fixed pin, cross hair, or moveable sight is allowable. A scope style sight, with or without lens is now allowed in the MBF class. Circle style pins are allowable (if circles are of one size). Must be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
MALE COMPOUND UNAIDED (MCU)
A compound bow with no sighting device. A rest and plunger are all that may reside within the sight window. There will be no markings on the bow or bowstring that could be construed as sighting marks. Must be shot with a glove, finger tab or bare fingers. Must be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
NOTE: STRING WALKING & FACE WALKING ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS CLASS
MALE BOWHUNTER RELEASE (MBR)
A compound bow, recurve or long bow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it will have fixed pins and must be shot with some type of release aid. Cross hair style pins are allowable as fixed pin sights. Circle style pins are allowable (if circles are of one size). Sights that utilize any lens, with or without magnification are not allowed in MBR class. sights may not be adjusted while on the range during a tournament. MALE BOWHUNTER OPEN (MBO)
A compound bow, recurve or long bow with a moveable sight, scope or laser sight. Any type of release aid, glove, finger tab or bare fingers may be used. Must be shot from the orange stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.
FEMALE BOWHUNTER OPEN (FBO)
A compound bow, recurve or long bow with a moveable sight, scope or laser sight. Any type of release aid, glove, finger tab or bare fingers may be used. Must be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
MALE SENIORS (MSR) - AGES 50 AND OVER
Optional class for any shooter 50 years of age or older. May shoot any type of equipment or style described above. Must be shot form the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
FEMALE SENIORS (FSR) - AGES 50 AND OVER
Optional class for any shooter 50 years of age or older. May shoot any type of equipment or style described above. Must be shot form the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
MASTERS CLASS (MCBH)
Optional class for any shooter that reaches the age of sixty years old or older. May shoot any equipment or style described above. Will be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
Crossbow Class (X-BOW)
Crossbows may or may not employ a magnification sight. Whether a pin type or scope type sight is used it will not employ any range finding capability. Magnification will not exceed 8x if utilized.
Crossbows may not exceed a draw weight of 190# and shoot a bolt (arrow) at a velocity no greater than 300 fps.
All crossbows must have a working safety. Safety is to be kept in an on position until shooter is at stake and ready to fire. No crossbow will be cocked before shooter is at the shooting stake; it may then be cocked and loaded in a down- range direction. Crossbows will not be loaded in an upward pointing position.
It is the shooters responsibility to be sure that his or her crossbow is in sound working condition. Crossbow arrows or bolts must be of a diameter no less than 20/64ths of an inch, and no less that 14 inches in length. They must have no less than three vanes or feathers and employ a field or bullet point. All bolts (arrows) carried on the course must be of the same type, size, fletch, point weight and overall weight. All crossbows used are to be of a manufacturer's standard production. Crossbows will be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
FUTURE BOWHUNTERS (FBH) - AGES 8 AND UNDER
Any type of equipment or style described above. Maximum shooting distance of 15 yards (13.72 meters).
Suggested method: Announce a scheduled starting time, all shooters present to begin at one time. Set a separate range of 10 targets for this class only. Range may be an open field with shooting stakes in a straight line and targets at unknown distances up to 15 yards.
It is recommended that this class be non-competitive. All shooters should receive awards.
Awards based upon score will not be made at National or World level events in this class. Awards at national and world levels will be for participation and at random only.
CUB - 9-12 YEARS OF AGE
May shoot any type of equipment or style described above. Must be shot from the white stake with a maximum of approximately 25 yards
YOUTH MALE FINGERS (YMF) - 13-17 YEARS OF AGE
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, and scope or laser type sight and must be shot with a glove, finger tab or bare fingers. Must be shot from the yellow stake with a maximum of approximately 35 yards.
YOUTH FEMALE (YF) - 13-17 YEARS OF AGE
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, and scope or laser type sight. Any type of release aid, glove, finger tab or bare fingers may be used. Must be shot from the yellow stake with a maximum of approximately 35 yards.
YOUTH MALE RELEASE (YMR 13-14) - 13-14 YEARS OF AGE
A compound, recurve or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, scope or laser type sight and must be shot with some type of release aid. Must be shot from the yellow stake with a maximum of approximately 35 yards.
YOUTH MALE RELEASE (YMR 15-17) - 15-17 YEARS OF AGE
A compound, recurve or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, scope or laser type sight and must be shot with some type of release aid. Must be shot from the green stake with a maximum of approximately 45 yards.
In all traditional style classes the use of Clickers, draw checks, mechanical or electronic devices shall be prohibited as a shooting aid.
All bow weight restrictions shall apply in all traditional classes as in any other class.

NOTE: STRING WALKING & FACE WALKING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THESE CLASSES. THE INDEX FINGER MUST TOUCH THE NOCK AT ALL TIMES.

TRADITIONAL (TRD) (formally TH)

A recurve or long bow with no sighting device. Arrow should be shot from the shelf or hand with no elevated rest. Only a piece of leather or similar material 1/8 inch thick or less shall be allowed on the arrow shelf. There will be no markings on the bow or on the bowstring that could be construed as sighting marks. There will not be any type of draw check on the bow or string. There may be only one nocking point on the string. Must be shot with glove, finger tab or bare fingers. No stabilizers or counter balances shall be allowed. While shooting the archer shall touch the arrow with the index finger against the nock, and using a single anchor point. The arrow shall be of the same material and in uniform length and weight, with a screw in style or glued on points. A minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Nibb style points are not allowed. Must be shot from the white stake with a maximum of approximately 25 yards.
NOTE: STRING WALKING & FACE WALKING ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS CLASS.

RECURVE UN-AIDED (RU)

A recurve or long bow with no sighting device. A rest and plunger are all that may reside within the sight window. There will be no markings on the bow or on the bowstring that could be construed as sighting marks. There will not be any type of draw check on the bow or string. There may be only one nocking point on the string. Must be shot with glove, finger tab or bare fingers. The arrow shall be of the same material and in uniform length and weight. There shall be a single stabilizer not in excess of 12 inches from the front of the bow. While shooting the archer shall touch the arrow with the index against the nock using a single anchor point. RU will be shot from the white stake with a maximum of approximately 25 yards.
NOTE: STRING WALKING & FACE WALKING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THIS CLASS.

YOUTH TRADITIONAL (YTRD) 9-17 years of age
A recurve or long bow with no sighting device. Arrow should be shot from the shelf or hand with no elevated rest. Only a piece of leather or similar material 1/8 inch thick or less shall be allowed on the arrow shelf. There will be no markings on the string or bow that could be construed as sighting marks. There will not be any type of draw check on the bow or string. There may be only one nocking point on the string.
Must be shot with a tab, glove or bare fingers. No stabilizers or counter balances shall be allowed. While shooting, the archer shall touch the arrow with the index finger against the nock and using a single anchor point. The arrows shall be of the same materials and in uniform length and weight, with screw in style or glued on points. A minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Nibb style points are not allowed. Must be shot from the white stake with a maximum of approximately 25 yards.

FEMALE TRADITIONAL (FTRAD)
A recurve or long bow with no sighting device. Arrow should be shot from the shelf or hand with no elevated rest. Only a piece of leather or similar material 1/8 inch thick or less shall be allowed on the arrow shelf. There will be no markings on the bow or on the bowstring that could be constured as sighting marks. There will not be any type of draw check on the bow or string. There will be only one nocking point on the string. Must be shot with a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers. No stabilizers or counter balances shall be allowed. While shooting the archer shall touch the arrow with the index finger against the nock, and using a single anchor point. The arrow shall be of the same material and in uniform length and weight, with screw in style or glued on points. A minimum of three (3) 4" vanes or feathers, dyna vanes or similar are allowed. Nibb style points are not allowed. Will be shot from the white stake with a maximum of approximately 25 yards.
NOTE: STRING WALKING & FACE WALKING ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS CLASS

ALL TRADITIONAL CLASSES WILL BE SHOT AT A MAXIMUM DISTANCE OF 25 YARDS (APPROXIMATELY)

LONGBOW (LB) (formally MTRD)
All I.B.O. rules apply, and traditional rules listed below. There is a 90-lb. Maximum bow weight. THIS CLASS ONLY.
1. Competitors shooting traditional longbow class will use a longbow defined as: a bow when strung the string touches only the nocks of the bow. A bow at the shelf shall be cut no closer than 1/8 inch to the centerline of the bow. In case a bow cut within 1/8 of center shot is found, it may be re-qualified by adding a leather pad to a thickness that will meet the rules. Cushion plungers or mechanical adjustments shall not be permitted.
2. No sights, stabilizers or counter balances shall be allowed.
3. Arrow shafts and feathers shall be identical in length, and color, except for normal wear. Arrows shall be of uniform weight. Arrow shafts will be restricted to wood.
4. Arrows will be shot from the shelf or hand with no elevated rest, with a single nocking point.
5. While shooting the archer shall touch the arrow with the index finger against the nock using a single anchor point.
Longbow will be shot from the white stake with a maximum of approximately 25 yards.

SEMI-PRO CLASSES
Entry fees for each leg of the I.B.O. National Championship Triple Crown will be $135.00, with $95.00 of the entry fee going to the purse for that class. Entry fees for the World Championship will be $150.00, with $120.00 to the purse. Payback will be 3 places or 20% of entries-up to 20 places except for the World Championship. The World Championship format will be the same, only shooters that qualify for the finals will receive a check, with first, second, and third place being awarded at the shoots with all others being mailed.
Any person competing in these classes must be an I.B.O. member prior to competing.
EXAMPLE: If your membership expires before the conclusion of a shoot, your membership is considered "NOT" in good standing.

SEMI-PRO FEMALE (SPF)
A compound, recurve or long bow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, and scope or laser type sight and may be shot with a glove, finger tab, bare fingers or with some type of release aid. Pay back will depend on the number of participants. Any person competing in this class must be an I.B.O. member prior to shooting. Any person that registers as a semi-pro during the IBO shoot year, can subsequently move to a pro class, but cannot then move back to an amateur or semi-pro class for that IBO shoot year. Must be shot from the blue stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.

SEMI-PRO MALE (SPM)
A compound, recurve or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used, it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, and scope, or laser type sight. May be shot with a glove, finger tab, bare fingers or with some type of release aid. Pay back would depend on the number of participants. Any person competing in this class must be an I.B.O. member prior to shooting. Any person that registers as a semi-pro during the IBO shoot year can subsequently move to a pro class but cannot move back to an amateur or semi-pro class during that IBO shoot year. Must be shot from the blue stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.

PROFESSIONAL CLASSES - (MANUFACTURERS CLASSES)
The entry fee to be $295.00 for PMR and $270.00 for all other pro classes at each leg of the National Triple Crown, with $245.00 going into the PMR purse and $220.00 for all other pro classes. Entry fee for the World Championship to be $275.00 for PMR and $250.00 for all other pro classes with $245.00 going into the PMR cash purse and $220.00 going into the other pro class purses.
Cash awards will be 20% of the competitors in PMR, PRF, PSR, PMF Payback is at least 3 places/then 20% of the entries up to 20 places, except for the World Championship. The World Championship format; only shooters that qualify for the finals will receive a check, with first, second, and third place being awarded at the shoots with all others being mailed. The number of entries in each event will determine amounts paid out.
All shooters that register in pro or semi-pro classes during the IBO shoot year will be required to remain in that class for the balance of the IBO shoot year.

PRO FEMALE (PRF)
A compound, recurve or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, scope or laser type sight and may be shot with a glove, finger tab, bare fingers or with some type of release aid. Any person competing in this class must be an I.B.O. member prior to shooting. Must be shot from the blue stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.

PRO MALE RELEASE (PMR)
A compound, recurve or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, scope or laser type sight and must be shot with some type of release aid. Any person competing in this class must be an I.B.O. member prior to shooting. Must be shot from the blue stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.

PRO MALE FINGERS (PMF)
A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without a sight. If a sight is used it can be fixed pins, moveable sight, scope or laser sight and may be shot with a glove, finger tab or bare fingers. Must be shot from the blue stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.

PRO SENIORS (PSR) - AGES 50 AND OVER
Optional class for any shooter 50 years of age or older. May shoot any type of equipment
or style described above. Any person competing in this class must be an I.B.O. member
prior to shooting. Must be shot from the blue stake with a maximum of approximately 50 yards.

PRO AND SEMI PRO CROSSOVER
All shooters that register as semi-pro or pro competitors in any 3-D shooting organization shall be recognized as the same in the I.B.O. Any person that does not register as the same semi-pro or pro at an I.B.O. event will be considered to be acting in an un-sportsmanlike manner and subject to Penalty under rule 26.

LEVELS FOR COMPETITION
In order for any class to be awarded a 1 st place, there must be three shooters participating in that class. Awards will be given based upon 10% of the field for each class from the preceding year, up to 10 plaques or 20 checks. This rule will be utilized at the beginning of any Triple Crown Championship.

TEAM CLASSES
At the first leg of the Triple Crown, there must be a minimum of three teams registered in a class for that class to be recognized for that year. In order to be crowned National Triple Crown team champions. A team must shoot all three legs of the Triple Crown.

TEAM MEMBERSHIP
Team membership must remain the same as the original team registered for the shoot year. A team may have three or four members with the top three scores from the team used to determine placing. The fee for teams at the National Triple Crown will be $40.00 for an amateur team and semi-pro team per event. $100.00 for pro teams per event. All teams must be established at the first leg of the National Triple Crown and no substitutions or changes will be made. Team awards will be issued by the I.B.O. at the conclusion of the third leg of the National Triple Crown Championship. There will be no team awards at each individual leg of the Triple Crown.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Each individual must be a current paid up member in good standing before the start of each leg of the Triple Crown to receive the National Triple Crown Championship award and before the World Championship to receive the world championship award.
